MB Airport Maintenance Experts presenting at IASS Show
The 56th Annual International Aviation Snow Symposium was held April 19-24, 2024 in Buffalo, New York. The show, the premier conference for airport snow removal operations, called on two MB airport business experts to share their knowledge at show educational sessions.
Keeping Snow Removal Equipment Operating Efficiently and Effectively
Sam Mallmann, Lead Field Service Technician for MB Airport Maintenance Products, joined several other trainers to teach the Airport Snow Equipment Mechanic Training course, as well as the Advanced Equipment Mechanic Training. The two-day snow equipment technical trainings were attended by airport operations technicians in charge of performing preventative maintenance and repairs on snow removal equipment (SRE) that is critical to the safe winter operations at airports.
The training delivered the knowledge needed to keep SREs working correctly and at peak efficiency. From investigating and diagnosing equipment problems reported by operators, to correctly making equipment adjustments and repairs, attendees learned about hydraulics, electronics, system operations and emissions, brake systems and more.
Mallman has been keeping snow removal equipment running at airports across the country for MB since 2019. With more than 30 years of diverse experience in automotive repair, diesel technology and heavy equipment maintenance, Sam’s extensive knowledge enables him to quickly troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues, and he enjoys sharing his expertise while training new technicians. Mallman himself is dedicated to continuous learning across all equipment systems, necessary as technology steadily evolves. Sam thrives collaborating with engineers and other technicians to source the problem, find a solution, get the equipment running., and ultimately, keep airports operations and flights on time.
Effective Snow Removal Equipment Training and Operations
Jessie Carr, Western Regional Sales Manager for MB Airport Maintenance Products, was a panel presenter at a general education session on creating a scalable SRE training program. The session covered recommendation on preparing and delivering instructions and procedures for airport SRE operators and technicians.
Airports are called to have an effective snow and ice control plan to promptly remove snow and ice from all airport airside areas where planes are moving, including taxiways, aprons, ramps and access roads – necessary for safe aircraft operation. Given that snow and ice clearance time requirements are in effect, it becomes imperative for equipment operators to understand and carry out their jobs most efficiently.
Carr has a wealth of SRE knowledge and enjoys helping airports understand how to best utilize equipment and operators to comply with snow and ice clearing requirements.
MB Airport Maintenance Equipment is trusted by airports across the U.S. to provide quality equipment and a full range of after sales support, including training, replacement parts and field service and maintenance.
